I can't believe the question.........
It's obvious the more aggresive and nimble badger would easily defeat the slow and clumsy giraffe!! -------------------- Of course I'm arrogant...The best always are!

You fail to consider the power of a girafe's kick.
Also you mention the nibleness of a badger?? I dunno if u have seen one close but the majority are fat lumbering beasts. Admittedly if the badger got hold of the giraffe then the big guy is in trouble but I think it would be 1 maybe 2 kicks and its all over. |

Badgers always walk with an almost bulldog swagger! †When they need to turn on the aggression they move very very quickly! †I think they walk with that swagger cos they know their 'ard!

It's a real tough question. The giraffe is a large creature, so it's possible it's reactions would be much slower, due to the greater distance the nerve signals have to travel.
Taking that into account, the "agile" badger could have chewed away a good chunk of giraffe leg before the giraffe had even noticed. I still voted for the giraffe though. a. because there is good chance badger would be stamped on accidently, or not , or kicked. b. I'd assume the lower giraffe leg would have been toughened over eons of evolution to avoid such attacks. c. If neither of the above were true, the damage a badger could inflict wouldn't be enough to cause the giraffe's death. At best the wounds would cause the giraffe to starve or be eaten by some other beast - and therefore not "killed" by the badger. Gentlemen, i rest my case. |

I quote the people that knowBadgers on the web
"In most cases, the badger's first reaction to danger will be to turn and run, dashing down into the nearest sett entrance if there is one nearby. As for the badger's reaction if cornered, our knowledge of this sadly derives mostly from accounts of badger baiting sessions, when these unfortunate animals are pitted aginst a succession of dogs. The tactics used in defence probably depend on the nature of the individual badger: some are more aggressive than others. Some badgers will tuck their heads between their forelegs and rely on their thick fur and tough skin to provide protection from the bites of their attacker(s). Most will also raise their heads from time to time, bringing their teeth into use: Meles has powerful jaws, and can use them to devastating effect if necessary. Badger cubs do not have strong jaws like adults, but if a cub is threatened and is unable to escape, it will turn to face its enemy, displaying its black and white stripes; fluff out its fur to make itself look bigger; and make what Ernest Neal has described as a "series of menacing noises". My own experience, dealing with a cub caught up in a snare, was that it seemed to hiss and spit like an angry cat! Does that sound like a giraffe killing animal? I think not |

Ah now your getting technical, if you wanna do that then neither would win because they would never try to fight in the first place.

I vote for the Badger, on condition that the fight takes place on the Badger's home venue. I'd like to see that cocky lanky necked bastard giraffe strut his stuff 3 metres deep into a Badger set...
