lo there all u crazy ringer patrol people.
i was just casually browsing ur site, as i herd u had my stats up. and what do i find but a little wc info. the intro to wc was kwite interesting, well done to russ. i have studied wt, wing tsun, a progression of wc for about a yr now, i am very sorry to inform u that it is better. if u would like to know why, post back and i would be willing to tell you. i am not trying to be offensive but i tihnk it is safer for u if u have a system that works. blueskin |

Am quite happy to be learning wc, after which i will certainly look to improve by looking at other styles. Different people choose different styles for different reasons and it is wrong to say that one style is better than another, as all have flaws as well as their strengths. I am fully aware of wc weaknesses, but learn nonetheless because i know that it's strengths out-weigh these. If u believe that the style you practice is superior to another, well then pat yourself on the back for your allegiance to your art, but you should be well aware by now that these ridiculous arguements about 'what's better than what' have been the cause of so much bloody grief in the martial arts world. All martial artists have the same goal, but take different routes getting there. We're not all the same.
I know a little about the modified wing chun styles, but you won't catch me going around calling them inferior. After all, i've never even studied them. Anyway, fancy writing a page for the kung fu section on Wing Tsun? I'd be very interested to know more about it. |

i sympathise comepletely with u when people say their martial art is "better". im sorry i didnt clarify it more. wt is "better" because it defends u, for a form of self defence that is what im looking for. wc will do the same thing up to a certain point, a certain thing which they can do and which u cannot defend urself. now, the same applies for wt but ony because im not that good, the system itself is flawless. obviously it is still possible to beat it, if u faced a shitty practicioner for example but wt performed rightly will beat all other systems. this knowledge, proven knowledge may not bother u but i am lucky enuf to have started learning wt from the start. i would be pleased to write a wt piece, outlining the differences. this may take me a while tho as i cba at the mo. its nioce to find someone else with the same interests tho. =[-KS-]=Blueskin |

Hmm Interesting, The Wing Tsun style has brought you much confidence. And shite grammar. I have no intention of critising Wing Tsun, but where is the groundwork? If an opponent floors you and then attempts to grapple you, what then. No amount of piss poor spelling can protect you from having your face stamped on.

hmmm yes i see, does wc have no anit-groundfighting section? wt does, it covers 11% of the whole training time, it involves a position on the floor, head off the floor, one foot flat and the other at the knee of the flat one, ready for a knee strike or a variety of downing moves i have learnt from the floor, obviously if someone attempts to rape u while ur down they will be in trouble, i have spent a *long* time lying on a floor chain punching til i could barely move. i hope someday this will help me. and in reply to the gun question, im told that the best form of self defence is to not be there. and no i have not learned to dodge bullets yet. there is a limit, what i meant was in unarmed combat, (even with knives or the other wt weapon form, canny remember what it is.). lost my thought train again, hang on lemme put it another way, u build two robots, both same speed strength etc, one does ANY martial art and the other does wt, wt robot wins every single time. the system is desgined to take out all other sytems. now you take ur wt robot and reduce its strength by 25%, hopefully it wil still win every single time, wt redirects energy rather than absorbing/blocking it such as sytems like karate, tae qwon do etc, (spelling?) anyhow i gotta go school now. dunno if i have answered any of ur points, lemme know |

Keep learning - Grow stronger and remember......One can defeat ones self. -------------------- Of course I'm arrogant...The best always are!

I'll take one of those robots then please. That way I can devote more of my time sitting around on my skinny arse, knowing that if any pyjama'd up foe were to attack me, my glorified Metal Mickey could whip the punk mother into submission (even if its battery was running at 75%)

if ground fighting covers 11% of the training does that imply that if you study wt you can expect to get you ass kicked by people susing other techniques and end up on the floor lots.

first of all, lol to 2nd post after mine. also no 11% of our time is spent on the floor, only 11% because the rest is spent stopping us from being on the floor. to be perfectly honest, i have not studied many techniques, which is why my main points are coming from my instructer, he studied judo and karate for 7 yrs each then wc for 6 years and now teaches wt, he says its better. im inlcined to beieve him. and the fact that we have emergency proceedures, i.e. anti ground fighting is for when u are pissed off ur head and wake up being kicked or something or for surprise attacks. i actually train lean off my tits, (high on marijuana) because i know that the most likely time for me to be mugged is when i am high and happily wondering the streets of peckham later at night. : 0 |
