Two thoughts on filters (the kind applied to photographs):

Theres going to be a massive market in the future for software to remove filters - making your only surviving picture of that holiday not look like it was shot through the bottom of a coke bottle; de-film-grain-and-scratch those wedding photos; remove the stupid rabbit ears and nose from the favourite baby photo etc.

The filters that add animal features or other face-mapping stuff to selfies are both technically amazing, and at the same time a gateway drug to rampant narcissism. Silent self-justification for taking so many selfies (because they add the cute animal features), soon slips into normal behaviour.
