.... Now I'm even more concerned. They don't appear to have a plan other than 'to connect users with business'... AKA ruining the messaging experience and uber-harvest.

Well it's owned by Facebook so not really a surprise - I'm not sure how much their nominal $0.99 per year would have covered anyway in real terms!

Whi knows, but surely we must be able to run one? Even better, if we can hook it into the user directory on rp then 'real' users can just login from mirc, pidgeon etc? If not irc, then xmpp or something?
