Forza Motorsport 2 is looking better than ever, with a great car list and cool features such as an exceptional livery editor and auction site. Also, there's the small matter of the four-screen, four Xbox 360 setup, to get us all drooling. I may have to open a couple of 360's and HDTV's at work

The very pretty and bandwidth-intensive Forza Motorsport Experience site is online. Cool! . For a taste of things to come, check out the American and Japanese online auctions on the Forza Motorsport Homepage

It's here and it's awesome! First impressions were promising with the tidy user interface. I chose my home region, which governs which cars you can purchase initially, of Europe and bought a new Golf GTi. I took it to the track and settled into my Gran Turismo driving-school style of hitting your opponents car of every bend to get around. I was rewarded with a time penalty, dumped into the gravel and then left with a huge repair bill afterwards. The game demands, and rewards, skillful driving and you can't help but feel pleased with yourself after you smoothly overtake another driver by quick-shifting and late braking. A trip to the upgrade centre will grant you a decent range of aftermarket parts, each with their own benefits and drawbacks, neatly explained on the HUD.
The livery editor speaks for itself. Each side of the car has 4000 layers and you can apply shapes, numbers and manufacturer logos on each one. Once you've created your masterpiece on one side of the car, the editor will flip it on the other side for you while keeping all lettering right-side-up. Several layers can be saved as a layer group, so you can keep your favourite design and use it on another car. Once you've pimped your ride you can upload any pictures taken to the Forzamotorsport website and download them to your PC, or facebook album. Sweet -------------------- |
