Installed the AVG security software and now my screen resolution seems to have changed,as it no longer all fits on my screen!, its just a smidge round the edge, but it grins at me in an annoying way as I know its there! Treid the res setting in micros*** control panel to no avail, I clearly need rent-a-geek, but please keep the jargon to a minimum, I am but a humble user by all accounts.

I've been running AVG for quite a while now. Had no problems with it.
Have you changed anything else on your PC at the same time? For example, you might have an old monitor that doesn't support the higher resolution. Also, just to be really pedantic - have you rebooted? Sometimes if an application crashes, andit was running at a lower resolution, this kind of thing can happen. -------------------- |

If you are losing just a bit around the edges (all edges) it sounds unlikely that it's a resolution change - they are normally quite big steps. Could it maybe be some software control for the monitors geometry/position controls which has got borked?

Well tried rebooting, re installing drivers, adjusting the resolution ad nauseum, so James' idea sound the most promising reason so far but tried the moniter menu and still had a bit missing, fecking microsh*%$
