Well what can I say Mike and I headed up to Birmingham on Saturday afternoon not knowing what we would find, upon arrival Mike and myself were both immediately impressed with the venue, What a huge difference over last year!!
It was held at a purpose built activity/team building centre, it even had proper bogs!!! Result! and more importantly a bar (even if it was a little expensive). After meeting up with Guppy and Brian, Mike and I went for a wander around the trade stands which were well stocked with the latest gear, the players party was good fun on Saturday night with plenty of drinking and the usual 'baller stuff (the paintball eating compo was a good laugh) The death metal band however was a bit much!!! The game on Sunday was just as well organised I unfortunately had marker problems and ended up missing the first two and half hours play Still the techs at the planet tent sorted me out (nice one guys) and I finally got out on the field, I had a good laugh. I found the game to be a little less serious than previous big games I have played which was refreshing. Its a shame more of you didnt make it!! Still there is always next year. Anyway thanks to Guppy and Brian for sorting Mike and I out, I had a really nice day! -------------------- SOMETIMES OUTNUMBERED BUT NEVER OUT GUNNED

What he said.
It was an excellent venue with plenty of facilities and too many ways to spend your money. The playing area was huge and I didn't see the other end of the field all day. We had a total nightmare with both of my guns refusing to work in the morning. The Ego's solenoid was crushed and the eye in my Eblade had rotted because the team I lent it to at the last NSPL didn't bother to clean it when I got it back. Before you Dye-hard-on's start gloating, I better point out that I lent to gun to a Dye-sponsored team who couldn't resurrect their spare DM6. Anyway, thanks to Ben's 'negotiating' skills and the wonders of Brian's toolbox we were mowing muppets from about 1130 onwards. Guppy sorted us out with a paint deal so good I had to borrow an 11-pot pack. Ben got some funky new Eclipse wear and was photographed by Genesis Paintball for a magazine feature. All in all it was a great weekend ruined only by the fact that there weren't enough Ringers to appreciate it. I can fully understand why no one would want to go to another North v South because the others have been so disappointing. To be honest, I probably won't go to another because I don't think they can better this one. The only low point was a brief spell at the bar during the players party. I was approached by a player who recognised me and the RP logo. I was fully expecting him to greet me warmly and enquire about the whereabouts of the rest of the Ringers when he just said, "Where's Polo?". -------------------- |
