If you want to try it out J, feel free to come round to mine one night for beers and x-box action as i'd be keen to see what it looks like before going out and spending my hard earned cash...

Got my copy. It's brilliant! Very well executed and a brave move for Activision that I hope rewards them with good sales. It's a fantastic advert for the sport and I insist you all go out and buy a copy, whether you have an Xbox or not.

I'm interested to know - Is it good coming from a paintball background or does it stand on it's own - i.e. is it a good 1st person shooter likely to appeal to Joe Average XBox owner?

I think it will appeal to the average gamer for several reasons. To succeed in the game, one must employ an effective use of cover and snap-shooting rather than picking up better weapons. Instead of relying on a Mega-Frag Cannon or similar device, victory is achieved by getting into a better position, offensively or defensively, than your opponent. Also, the 'glance' is a novel feature. Whilst firing, you can quickly look to your left or right by tapping the appropiate button on your d-pad. In almost every other game, your weapon follows your point of view which can be annoying if you just want to have a quick peek to your side. It's a great idea and will save you from many a mugging. The game doesn't break any new ground technically and it's difficult to perfom a run-through, but these are just quibbles. It's got some cool ideas lacking in so many current FPS titles and I think most players will find it a refreshing change.

Obviously to snap shoot successfully you need to be like Jamie Abbot - often regarded as one of the best snap shooters in the world. WHEN HE REMEMBERS TO TURN THE FUCKING GUN ON.

Just got through to the 'London Championship' held in Hyde Park. My first game was against none other than Shockwave UK. Team Meat was wiped out in about three minutes but I did have the satisfaction of bonus-balling a virtual Kyle Milton until my hopper ran dry. Bliss.
