WHAT THE F*** !!!
That about it! Does anyone understand ho it can take 3 years for Bungie to come up with a story which makes no sense and is not even complete! How long will it be till the next one is out so all of this makes sense???? I HATE BUNGIE!!!!!!!!! -------------------- Of course I'm arrogant...The best always are!

Ok, don't hate me, but as a long time sci-fi fan and ubernerd the whole thing seemed to tie in quite nicely. I know the ending was a cliff-hanger, but so was the ending to LOTR II as it was part of a bigger story. We can wait years for a Star Wars, LOTR etc film, so waiting a few years for Halo 3 doesn't seem all that bad, especially with all the dreadful multiplayer slaughter ahead of us.
So what didn't make sense? The precise relationship between the Flood and the Forerunners was never explained, nor the identity/motives of the big Flood creature but the "Covenant's Forerunner worship leading to their trying to activate the rings and take the Great Journey seemed like a foregone conclusion until they were thwarted by a rebellion by the dispossessed elites" story hung together well. We are left with a blasted ring (Russ-boy.... ) with Cortana chatting to the big ugly underwater at the end of the credits, and the Master Chief racing to try and stop the final Prophet from getting to the switch (on Earth- that's why Regret invaded by mistake- he had no idea the planet with the switch was covered in Humans) before he can wipe out all life in the galaxy. Sounds like the middle of a trilogy to me..... And what a fucking great game.
