I'm sorry, but how is this going to be enforced? Might sound like a silly point, but from what I can remember of paintball, you're likely to have some tw** get out a tape measure and state "You were only 7.9m away when you shot me, therefore I'm not out!", which of course will be followed by "but I was leaning back and that gives me an extra 15cm!" and "My dad's better than your dad!"

It isn't

The whole thing with these games is they are to an extent self-policing, with only so many marshals and 400 or so players they do rely on folk doing the right thing .
The 8m precaution is there for two main reasons; safety, and so that if someone gets ten point blank to the pills the organisers can say 'not our fault, we told them not to do it.' Add to that the fact that in these games it's very rare to close to those kind of distances anyhoo and everyone is happy, safe and protected. The main issue with these games is how to close without getting caught in longball hell (Apex, smoke, Dinosaur), not CQB techniques.
