Personally, I think there will be some die-hard PS fans out there, but it is priced way out of the range of other consoles.
My comparison to X360 goes X360 (with 20GB HDD) = £280 PS3 (with 20GB HDD) = £410 difference = £130, which is roughly 50% more. OK, I accept that the PS3 has a Blu-ray drive (X360's HD-DVD will be an add-on), but this will only help to drive the cost of games up. I reckon there's also only room for one HD format, if Blu-ray does not win (and let's face it, Sony doesn't have a good track record - Betamax, MiniDisc, PSP movies...), that's an expensive mistake. At least an add-on can be changed easily. I can't understand the logic behind this. Microsoft has already had a year of "foot in the door". My guess is PS is about to keel over and die (very slowly and painfully - especially for the die-hard Sony fans). There might well be a PS5, but I doubt they will maintain their current dominance and will have to fight hard if they want it back. -------------------- |
