Just a sec here......

Not once has anyone mentioned accuracy? Just wondering coz in my opinion power is nothing without accuracy. I mean an angel can shoot fast but hey, where are all the balls going??!!!!

Do they both shoot consistantly accurate?

P.s. you have to marvel at the quality of machining on the ego...top notch I'd say! ;)

That was kind of what I was asking Simon - sure they are both quick (as is an Alias), but can you actually hit anything with them, do they suffer any kind of first ball winging or shot dropoff at rapid rates?

...no winging or first shot drop off with rapid rates...!!
...I understand that those who went to Germany recently may or may not have had their new boards installed for the Proto...if they have...now is the time to hear their sensible feedback?

Good points. I do like the way the Proto works, the fact that you only have to replace a couple of o-rings if it goes wrong. I had no issues with the accuracy when I fired one and was impressed with the lack of any real kick. Need to borrow someone's Ego for a comparison.

Well this may be a closed subject, but I didnt want to make comment until I'd really touched or seen the proto properly. I judged the Pro Tour at Reading and EVERYONE was using EGO or Proto, so looks like your in good company whatever you field, but I did notice one thing....

The Proto struck me with two obvious points.... It's MUCH lighter than I would have given it credit for. Thought the EGO had that in the bag on weight, but maybe not. (Especialy with the composite proto coming out), but more importnantly I noticed this worying effect...

We chronoed almost every gun onto the field almost every game (40 in all, so must have chronoed close to 300 guns, say maybe 50% Protos) and there was a HUGE proportion of them with the same problem. The first shot (often first 3 or so shots) were always low. I mean WAY low (125 - 190 fps). I got the the feeling the people were like "Yeah but when they rip, they really rip", but couldnt help feeling that I would be slightly let down if my first shot was not what I was expecting. Sometimes I only get the chance for 1 to 3 shots, and need them all to count 100%. Does anyone else have this problem, or was the 5:30AM start making me delirous?

Opinions?

I have to say that a low first shot would be quite handy in an in game chrono situation. wink.gif

But a disadvantage in snap shooting, one of the few skills remaining in the game.

Can you imagine it? Snap, bang, trickle...

that is why you always perform the snapshot with no less than two shots. :)

Yeah, I reckon it was a cleaning problem. I noticed when there was a break in the barrel, they seemed to chrono much lower than planned. Is boltspeed the parent of velocity in the protos?

to an extent, but not really. maybe the lpr's were a little low. or maybe matt your chrono was pants wink.gif or yer, maybe some are dirty.

the protos seriously rock in my opinion. real light on paint, and both planet and dye have wicked support.

accuracy wise i think the proto is awesome, but then again ive never really noticed much accuracy difference between guns with decent paint/barrels. But with the soft quiet and little kick of the trix it seems lazer beamishnessly cool.

ive shot tommy's, and telfers egos in a couple of games with ultralights and millennium mode and were sweet, rattlin away like a machine gun, but that wasnt true semi and i dont like the magnet thing planet always do with their triggers. well annoying. prefer springs.

simmo man, the psp boards were pretty sick and all the guns shot awesome throughout germany, which was wicked, but they shoot fast with semi baords too.
